hi
i use linux machine along with windows. i boot to
linux( redhat 6.1) using a partition but i noticed a
couple of problems
1. at lilo prompt if i type linux single the system
boots to $ and there is no login password checking the
user is root. if i change the password the roots
password changes. how do i disable this
2. i start up linux system to stsrt X windows system
by default at this time i noticed that if without
logging the system if i select shutdown from menu the
system shuts down even if i login as root at a
different console. in short i want only root to start
and shutdown the system also i want to know how i
prevent the system from shutting down if no user has
logged in . if after booting i chose the shutdown menu
from the login screen in x windows
thanks
