Easy soln...YaST2(if it works for you)
Otherwise, check the following...
        - If the sound card is plug and play, you have to use the pnpdump 
and isapnp progs for sound support
        - If you want to avoid using the pnpdump and isapnp, you can run 
the oss drivers available as a separate package
        - Fire up KDE and you want sound?? Edit file /opt/kde/bin/startkde
and uncomment the lines...
# startifthere kaudioserver
# startifthere kwmsound

Then see if you can get sound to work with SuSE
