Yesterday I went through the SuSE online manual regarding sound. For
only, ISA cards, pnpdump and isapnp.conf is necessary. For PCI cards,
only configuring modules.conf is sufficient. I have one Zenith machine
with ESS Technology 1 card which needs esssolo1.o module. It was there.
now that machine works in sound. In my home old ISA yamaha OPL3 card I
have. For this I have copied the isapnp conf.file from Rh and commented
out all sound lines in modules.conf. This works. But new kmidi in
suse63. doesn't work. Whereas midi in RH works for me. This is still a
puzzle to be solved. May be needing some more reading and some more
tweaking. What is your card. if it is ISA send me isapnp.conf or if it
is PCI send me the modules.conf file by private mail. Thanks for the
response.
