Sorry for specifying in my earlier mail /etc/conf.modules. The file in fact
is /etc/modules.conf and conf.modules is just a link to /etc/modules.conf.

Rajesh

L.V.Gandhi saw fit to inform me that:
>Yesterday I went through the SuSE online manual regarding sound. For
>only, ISA cards, pnpdump and isapnp.conf is necessary. For PCI cards,
>only configuring modules.conf is sufficient. I have one Zenith machine
>with ESS Technology 1 card which needs esssolo1.o module. It was there.
>now that machine works in sound. In my home old ISA yamaha OPL3 card I
>have. For this I have copied the isapnp conf.file from Rh and commented
>out all sound lines in modules.conf. This works. But new kmidi in
>suse63. doesn't work. Whereas midi in RH works for me. This is still a
>puzzle to be solved. May be needing some more reading and some more
>tweaking. What is your card. if it is ISA send me isapnp.conf or if it
>is PCI send me the modules.conf file by private mail. Thanks for the
>response.
