sir

i had installed Red Hat-6.2 from pcquest cdrom this
week.it was working fine.

i tried to reconfigure the monitor by using the
'setup' option.i have samsung samtron 55E monitor and
Trident 3D graphics card (the card was successfully
detected by the configurator at the beginning itself)
. but when i entererd the custom option for my monitor
i gave the sync freq as 50-70.after that it again
asked me whether it should probe. i accepted the probe
option after some flickers of the screen the system
went into a hang with the screen blacked out.
i hade to switch off the power switch.upon restarting
the system went on to boot initially but when it came
to the point of displaying the login screen(x-windows)
it again went into blackout hang and was unable to
show up the GUI login screen.upon restarting i
received
the following error message from the bios
  CMOS checksum error
Enter SETUP to set clock ratio

it gave me an option to press F1 to proceed anyway
which i did .once again i tried to boot into linux at
the lilo prompt but finally got into a hang just
before the login screen . on again restarting i got
the same error message from the bios but i continued
and tried to login into windows which i did
successfully.

please help me.
