That is fine...

I don't get U here - just what do U mean??? Do U mean to say that u'r BIOS
identifies the disk initially as an 8.4GB disk, but u'r OS later
recognizes it as a 17GB disk???

U mean it goes directly to dos??? If that is the case u'r Linux (ext2)
primary partition (most probably /boot) where LILO is installed is *NOT*
the active primary partition. Just run `fdisk` from *PURE F8 DOS* and make
that u'r active partition. If not U have some clarifications to make...
1. Are U getting the BLUE ONTRACK load indication still???
2. What exactly happens after the BIOS is thru' - I mean any messages
etc???

>>> Anybody has setup lilo along with ONtrack OS from seagate.
YESSIR!!!

>>> I have even put linear in /etc/lilo.conf.

I don't know if that is the wisest thing to do...

<snip from `man lilo.conf`>

When using  `linear'  with  large
disks, /sbin/lilo may generate references to inac-
cessible disk areas, because 3D sector addresses
are not known before boot time.

</snip from `man lilo.conf`>

>>> What else I have to do ?

Chill out man, nothing serious unless U'r *NOT* getting the "BLUE ONTRACK
load indication" itself!!!

Regards,
Narain.
