See Ashish. My root partition is say on /dev/hda7 then if I pass the following at LILO
prompt :

LILO : linux root=/dev/hda7 init=/dev/hda7

then it should work. You have to just tell LILO, where init is located. init is in
/sbin and hence you have to give the device of your root partition for init. If that
does not work then you must have done something horribly wrong and no other option
than reinstalling or upgrading linux.

I first installed Linux on my machine 1 and half year back. It was Red Hat 5.2 then I
tried to upgrade to Red Hat 6.0 and during the upgradation process CD gave some
problem and then I had to face the same problem which you are facing now. But I had no
option then reinstalling because my linux stuff was badly screwed by Red Hat 6.0
upgradation. I then freshly installed Red Hat 6.0

Correct me if I am wrong fellow listers.

Regards
