I don't remember the start of this thread but I know u must be
having a hell lot of time. I assume that ur linux partitions are not
corrupted.
The easiest way which will save u from all this is to take the
linux installation CD,(The one from which u installed) start installation
and choose upgrade. Hopefully it will choose the correct partitions and
then upgrade without choosing anything (ie any package groups), install
lilo again and hope for the best
