optionally you can boot in using the pcq cd to text mode

boot: text
then when the partitioning stage comes
choose fdisk, edit
do a listing by giving p
and see which are the partitions for linux, 
you need to identify only the / (root) for linux,
then again reboot the system using the cd
at boot prompt of the cd give this
linux root=/dev/hda<#> ro
and yu will be inside the installation
there you run lilo which will rewrite the old lilo back
