Your X configuration seems to be wrong. At the LILO: boot prompt
give linux 3 . Then edit /etc/inittab and set the initdefault (look for
it) to 3. (It seems to be 5 at present).
Then troubleshoot your X configuration. Do not choose to
automatically boot into X when configuring. After u configure X, use
startx to check out the configuration is stable. Only after this u should
change the initdefault back to 5.
