Hi,

Your X server is not configured properly and you are directly starting Linux in
graphical mode.

Type linux single at LILO prompt and then edit /etc/inittab file.
Change the run level

On Red Hat runlevels are as follows. Change your id:.... line as follows and reboot.

# Default runlevel. The runlevels used by RHS are:
# 0 - halt (Do NOT set initdefault to this)
# 1 - Single user mode
# 2 - Multiuser, without NFS (The same as 3, if you do not have networking)
# 3 - Full multiuser mode
# 4 - unused
# 5 - X11
# 6 - reboot (Do NOT set initdefault to this)
#
id:3:initdefault:

Now you will get the login prompt in text mode. Then you can configure X properly. I
would recommed not to start linux in Graphical mode. Text mode is cool, go to
Graphical mode by typing startx.

Hope this helps.

Regards

Rajesh
