Telnet makes it possible as if u were actually working on the machine u have
logged into.

For the above reason telnet becomes a security issue. As most hackers would
want to get the root password and take over the machine

For this you will have to know the IP number of your home pc ( and if the
ISP to which your home pc is logged into uses DHCP, then u wouldn't know
its IP number) Further if the ISP is firewalling/ IP masquerading / NAT you
will get only the IP of the firewall and never of the home machine. However,
you can dial into the home machine and telnet into it. This will be a secure
channel as you will not have any peeping TOMS.

All that you want is very much possible however, you need to make a couple
of shell scripts and some modifications to the services file.
Also please read up online documentation on secure shell login
