Hello Shridhar,
you must be correct. I had ignored the warning and opted for the read
write pointer. I have never compiled the kernel, but i want to give it a
shot. i was not aware that you could compile just a module. how is this
done. Is there a place where I can RTFM ? Another word of caution
though, i read somewhere that the w2k NTFS differs from the winNT4.0
NTFS. Keeping a 300MB FAT for communicating with NT is a good idea.

Regards,
mario

p.s. after the unfortunate incident where I thrashed my NTFS partition,
my sys admin and my boss, decided that i would have to delete my LINUX
and work only with win NT :o( I wouldn't want any one else to suffer a
similar fate.
