 When you do make menuconfig for linux kernel compilation, you can select
drivers as built in or modules. So you can select NTFS file system  as
modules. Then you can just say make modules;make modules_install. 

Gurus correct me....

W2K!!! I don't know a damn about it except all of it's
shortcomings.... :-)) I didn't find it necessary. I have yet to see an
installation of w2k. So that's a technology on moon for me.

But yes, M$ is famous for changing NTFS specification and making SAMBA
team work hard. What you say is very correct...

Anyway even read only NTFS is not as stable as ext2. I had to reboot when
a long find on NTFS partition froze entire system. Very rare incident
indeed but I saw it.

P.S. NTFS module comes precompiled with Mandrake. So Sweet... :-))
