If I understand correctly, when you delete a mail from netscape folder it
actually marks it for deletion. When you compact the folder it deletes it
actually. Thus reducing the mailbox file in size. It does not store it in
compressed format. You can cat all the mailbox and see each and every byte in
plain text...
