Please give proper subject lines to your mails in future. Many of us here on
the list use threaded email clients and mails with blank subject line don't
help that cause.

After you connect to the net, type lsmod and see if the following modules are
loaded :
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 29080 Jun 20 2000 ppp.o
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 40392 Jun 20 2000 ppp_deflate.o
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 5804 Jun 20 2000 bsd_comp.o
If these modules are not loaded then pppd will not be able to run :-). Check
out with modprobe ppp manually. What kernel are you using. I faced this problem
when I compiled kernel 2.4 without module support for bsd compression by
mistake and faced pppd has died problem. Now it works fine.
