dont bother, just dont run apmd. Fire up tksysv and remove apmd from the
list of services. You can use linuxconf too, but careful so as not to ruin
your sendmail configs. 

BTW does linuxconf allow hand editing dns configs, or do i have to keep
linuxconf aliased as linuxconf -unset mailconf -unset dnsconf.
