 |All modems have varistor which protects the circuit from the surges, in

Last week , my external modem blew up due to some surge from the phone
line !! My phone gave a ring and went out of order!! and it rectified it
self in about an hour ! but then I discovered that my modem is dead... the
AT commands and modem lights work ... but it can't dial out!

(had a similiar experience once when a modem was connected thru an epabx
and a shortcircuit blew up the whole ebapx system... the modem blew up
with a flash of light !! )
