|have u heard of Genius FlexV 56K ?
|well it is an internal modem, and I was using it with my P100, on ATC1000+
|board, and when I no more needed a proxy, I started using my 486/dx 33 as
|NAT
|and this modem is working in this machine too, and dont say external modem
|will out perform internal, I find it the other way, and internal modems
|perform

Controller less pci modem now in the market uses instruction set of mmx and
can not work without mmx cpu. The modem you are refering must be standard
modem with controller.

|better for me, since external modems have to depend on the serial port, but
|internal ones will come with a serial port which will be matching for the
|modem,

It is virtual serial port and data transfer between modem and cpu is via
pci/isa bus.

|you might have seen only modem half cards or cnr modems, or even pci
|internal modems
|try an isa internal modem which has jumper settings, and use it you will
|never regret it

The internal ISA modem are hardware modem only, and it is basically a
replica of external modem with isa bus in place of serial bus.

You must be lucky to have 56k isa modem. I would love to buy one. Please
give me the source.
