This what I got on my home machine. Surprising ???
debian:~# hdparm -Tt /dev/hda8
/dev/hda8:
Timing buffer-cache reads: 128 MB in 1.81 seconds = 70.72 MB/sec
Timing buffered disk reads: 64 MB in 5.71 seconds = 11.21 MB/sec
debian:~# hdparm -Tt /dev/hda
/dev/hda:
Timing buffer-cache reads: 128 MB in 2.12 seconds = 60.38 MB/sec
Timing buffered disk reads: 64 MB in 15.86 seconds = 4.04 MB/sec
debian:~# hdparm -Tt /dev/hda9
/dev/hda9:
Timing buffer-cache reads: 128 MB in 1.81 seconds = 70.72 MB/sec
Timing buffered disk reads: 64 MB in 6.39 seconds = 10.02 MB/sec
debian:~#
Warm Regards
