u r right Suresh
but the problem doesent seems to be in internal DNS as the output of
# dig vikram.svrec.ernet.in MX
// on local network means using local DNS gives
;; ANSWER SECTION:
vikram.svrec.ernet.in. 1D IN MX 40 naveen.ncst.ernet.in.
vikram.svrec.ernet.in. 1D IN MX 10 vikram.svrec.ernet.in.
vikram.svrec.ernet.in. 1D IN MX 20 milan.doe.ernet.in.
vikram.svrec.ernet.in. 1D IN MX 30 sangam.ncst.ernet.in.
that seems to be preety correct
but the answer to the same query obtained from upper level DNS
( that u have got ) is as following
;; ANSWER SECTION:
vikram.svrec.ernet.in. 22h8m41s IN CNAME svrec.ernet.in.
svrec.ernet.in. 22h32m2s IN MX 20 milan.doe.ernet.in.
svrec.ernet.in. 22h32m2s IN MX 30 sangam.ncst.ernet.in.
svrec.ernet.in. 22h32m2s IN MX 40 naveen.ncst.ernet.in.
svrec.ernet.in. 22h32m2s IN MX 5 vikram.svrec.ernet.in.
svrec.ernet.in. 22h32m2s IN MX 10 vikram.svrec.ernet.in.
it shows that we need some changes in upper level DNS entries
pls suggest what exactly should be changed there
