hi Suresh

i think things are correct here the part of DNS file a'm sending
u , check them

> Get rid of the CNAME. Give Vikram an A record, or put up an MX 5 entry for
> svrec.ernet.in instead of vikram.svrec.ernet.in.

vikram has got an A record as u can see

<snip>
vikram          A       202.141.85.15
                MX      10  vikram.svrec.ernet.in.
                MX      20  milan.doe.ernet.in.
                MX      30  sangam.ncst.ernet.in.
                MX      40  naveen.ncst.ernet.in.
</snip>

> Or getrid of the MX5 entry altogether and make orion the primary MX for
> itself.

<snip>
orion           A       202.141.85.7
                MX      5   orion.svrec.ernet.in.
                MX      10  vikram.svrec.ernet.in.
                MX      20  milan.doe.ernet.in.
                MX      30  sangam.ncst.ernet.in.
                MX      40  naveen.ncst.ernet.in.
</snip>

i think this is correct orion is its primary MX

isn't it if not pls tell me

yes the CNAME (not exactly ,i think simler to CNAME) entry in our File is
as following

<snip>

svrec.ernet.in  IN   MX   10 vikram.svrec.ernet.in

</snip>

regards

shubh
