Hmm.. IMO you are being over adventurous.. You have a fact in you favour that package installs itself in /usr/desi rather than /usr. Otherwise it would have been a mess to deal around.. I suggest following. 1)Install version 1. 2)Raname /usr/desi to /usr/desi1. 3)Add proper dirs. to PATH and MANPATH. 4)alias desi1/desi2 to desi for each user to suit his her needs. So everybody will be mostly happy. Secondly as far as mapping keys are concerned, you can do that with mapping in xkbdmap. But it needs a X restart. I think you can assign them per user. so make a proper one for each user, assuming that it's an X app. You need to read it on it. Never fiddled with it myself. But for sure that's possible.. And now some OT part..Quoting from your other mail.. >God bless Bish ! His dedication to Linux & detailed >answers to various queries are always proving good >source of knowledge to thousands of newbees like me ! >I read almost all his mails ( even if not related to >my queries ) , whenever I am dnloading my LIH mails Hmm.. Over last 3 years since I have joined LIH, I have developed same respect to few fellows out here. I do read their each and every post and mostly I backup all of them.. Way to go buddy..
