Ahoy, Mukund !
Are you on-line ? I am back to build a distro.
I did every-thing as per yr instructions. BUT SORRY,
NO LUCK.
The only confusion to me is abt step no. 7, where you
told to:
>7. copy from /dev/hda*, /dev/zero, /dev/null and
/dev/console
>to /mnt/tmp/dev
Should I copy /dev/hda4 device file also to
/mnt/tmp/dev ?
Any how, I tried it. But the whole partition ( hda4 in
my
case : 278MB primary, ext2) I have created, consumed
all the
space. At least "df" shows "100% used" ( I deleted
hda4 then).
But still I tried loadlin as per yr instr.
Then I deleted the /dev/hda4 from the new partition,
and
again tried, still NO-NO !
Then I copied the stock kernel of Debian from CD to /
of
this new partition & again tried, but the dumbo
refused to
boot.
Then I copied /sbin/init file of my original Debian
box(hda6,
600MB, ext2 with every-thing imp and working nicely )
to hda4's
/ dire. But NO LUCK !
( Sorry for my "Non-knowledge" abt linux, that's why I
tried
above "un-told" steps also. )
The only message, with all above options I am getting
is, :
"Kernel panic. No init found. Try passing init option
to kernel"
Remember I am using "loadlin" on my original Debian &
RH boxes
successfully.
What is wrong, dear ?
