hi,
youre using suse so to must have the package imap installed.it provides
imap4,pop2 and pop3.inetd.conf must be started in rc.config and edited
accordingly.is is'nt it obvious - to install pop you have to install imap!
BTW suse sucks big time.redhat or mandrake are much more manageable.why?
- suse wastes your time with SuSEconfig every time you do anything.
-suse does not have the equivalent of ntsysv.
-there is no man page for chkconfig though the command may exist.
-the default installation of suse runs services that could have been
disabled in other distros thru ntsysv.in suse you may be lucky if it merits
mention in rc.config.
-suse has no manpage for wget though wget is installed.why?
-suse gets hacked more
-when you have a question in a discussion group you get answers that pertain
to redhat but nothing about suse.
-suse yast only update (YOU) sucks bigtime.whereas redahat up2date is
extremly reliable and free.
-want to install a mailserver - dont get conned into buying suse email
server.recently a guy posted about wanting to use suse email server 2 for a
mailserver.why use an old version of suse when you can download all the
latest stuff and get something that at least you have confugured yourself
and can troubleshoot more easily.try asking questions specific about suse
email server on this list.i doubt you'll get many answers.
hth,
manohar
