w3's HTML rendering is better than that of lynx's, hence HTML emails show
up better in emacs based mail clients than in mutt. I had tried to use
links for text/html mails, but links doesn't have an option similar to
-dump in lynx.

Still, a mailcap entry of lynx -force_html -dump is good enough to read
through the mail if it is important. Rest are spam, and can be devnulled
without even opening :-)
