sancharnet is using smtp auth now and hence the default sendmail will not work. I will have to do the tedious task of compiling sendmail with smtp auth. Never done this till now.
If you are using redhat the default rpm is compiled with AUTH.
If it is AUTH PLAIN or AUTH LOGIN there are sasl plugin RPMs that you have to install.
