Arvind, just put

guest only =yes
security=share

in your [global] section of smb.conf & create a share and see if it
works(Make sure guest account exists). I found this is the FASTEST method of
running a samba server.

For more details "man smb.conf"  and search for "USERNAME/PASSWORD" a very
nice explanation is given on authentication in samba.
