well, i am not sure about my config file as it still does not do what i want
it to do.

hahaha, i want exactly the opposite of what you want,. i want to avoid a
linux box account because we will be having many file servers, and mainting
and synching each account will be a big time nightmare, so i want all users
on the AD itself.

about my file

in my global section i have given

realm = <my-Domain>
security = ADS
password server =  <name of my win2k AD server>

[homes]
        comment = Home Directories
        browseable = no
        writeable = yes
        valid users = %S
        create mode = 0664
        directory mode = 0775

# in share definitions i have
[myshare]
   comment = USER-MAILS
   browseable = yes
   path = /home/usermails
   public = yes
   writable = yes
   printable = no
   create mask = 0765

try it out, do some hit n trial and you will get ur desired config.
