Good enough. What does hdparm -tT gives? It's a simple ebnchmark so run it
while you are not doing anything else..

Varies from 82.0 to 90 MB per sec.

You can turn it to 32 bit but I doubt how much difference that would make..

I did that earlier, but without any noticeable gain.

That's not HDD.. Get a shining new kernel and it will be warp 10 then..:-)

2.4.22 + CK patch would be good enough? I'm not really prepared to re-install the
whole thing in case it comes crashing down. Or, would you recommend 2.6test ?


Usually /sbin/hdparm -d1 /dev/hda in /etc/rc.d/rc.local is sufficient. Rest
kernel will figure it out..

I guess the same is happening now. I didn't even have to mention "-d1".
