My current favourite is the i810. Affordable, great performance and
decent support in Linux. GL support will be making an appearance soon
which makes it an even more interesting! But the only down point is that
it is integrated! I recommend the i810 for the masses.

For non intel fans (like me), S3 Virge rulez! Support for S3 cards has
always been outstanding in Linux.

My personal choice would be TNT2, Voodoo3 and Matrox G400. All have
excellent support on Linux incl. GL! Geforce is toooo expensive.

As far as possible, i recommend that people stay away from SiS,Trident
and cirrus logic. What good is it if u have to disable every possible
feature esp. acceleration just to see the mouse pointer!!!
