In my .xinitrc file i use enlightenment-dir/enlightment -theme
theme-dir/theme-name
unfortunately i get an error saying theme-name is a directory and x
quits. if i
use the theme tarball (tar.gz) as theme name i get an error saying
cannot read binary file.
how do i use themes under enlightenment? I did everything that was in
the FAQ.

Hi all,
I feel a little bit lonely now that I spend most of my computing time on
Linux, and the reason is that I miss my ICQ chats. I tried to find some
equivalent for Linux, and for the moment only encountered some troubles.
>From my personal experience, gICQ is VERY unstable, and can only be used
when logged as root. It is also so that I installed it as a rpm, but it
is no longer considered as an installed rpm by glint or kpackage.
Otherwise, I am currently using KDE 1.1 and the needed libs for kICQ and
kxICQ are those from KDE 1.0. As a perfect newby, I am still unable to
set down a nice cohabitation between the old and the new libs.
Does anybody have a good idea ?

Sorry, my mistake. Can't see your kernel version (using slrn as newsreader).
It's in the new 2.2.1 kernel. I've selected it as a module.

PIKT, Problem Informant/Killer Tool, version 1.2.1
New developments: Fixed a number of problems relating
to exec wait, possible multiple concurrent program
instances, and lockfiles.
PIKT is an innovative new paradigm for administering heterogeneous networked
workstations. PIKT monitors systems, reports problems, and fixes those
problems automatically whenever possible.
PIKT uses an embedded scripting language that sports an especially clean
syntax and introduces unique features to make your programming easier.
PIKT is also a sophisticated control mechanism for managing all of your
administrative scripts. You can, setting aside the PIKT language, even
use it to version control, install, error log, and schedule programs written
in other languages, as well as to employ macros, meta-comments, and C-like
#if and #include directives in Perl, AWK, etc.
PIKT is distributed under the GNU General Public License. Available now
for Solaris, SunOS, and GNU/Linux. For more info, and complete source code,
documentation, and data files (all 40,000+ lines of it), please visit the
PIKT Web site at:

However when such a product appears licensed under GPL (as I can guarantee
one will within the next 12 months) they will not hesitate to use it if it
is suitable for their needs.
There are already a couple of projects underway to create a good accounts

For...? You ordered a Debian 2.0 CD set, and you got a Debian 2.0 CD
set. There aren't major changes between 2.0 and 2.0r3, only a couple
of packages that may have been updated for security fixes and the like.

But of course. URL in .sig.
Printtol configured a queue for you in lpd (the spooling program), and
installed the driver needed to "filter" what you spool, so that you
can just spool the Postscript generated by most Unix-style software
and have the right thing appear on your printer.
With a Canon Bubblejet, the filter uses Ghostscript to interpret the
Postscript and produce the epson-style printer commands needed to
actually drive your printer.
The actual Red Hat packages involved are "lpd", "rhs-printfilters",
"gs", and "printtool".

IrDA *or* USB ??
IrDA is already in the 2.2.x kernel -- USB: see below.

Please never ever state something you don't know about !
I always hate it when people state something on the newsgroups that obviously
is blatantly wrong.
Linux almost *always* supports almost *anything* to some extent.
So you almost always will be proved wrong with such statements about Linux...
Linux USB support is not in the kernel, but can be had as a separate
package.
(it isn't perfect yet, though, partially due to the fact that many USB devices
are proprietary)
So many devices don't work yet.
Just search on the net for it, it should be well-known...

You might want to test Wine (www.winehq.com) with Word 97.
It isn't terribly stable at all yet, though... (alpha or at most pre-beta)
But you might get stability that is suitable for work within 6 months.
Word 95 or Word 6.0 are running a lot better.
Good luck ! ;-)

I wouldn't agree with you more if it wasn't for the fact that I said "AS
FAR AS I KNOW", I hate people who flunked Evelyn Wood's Speed Reading

This question might be a bit off topic, but I'm looking for either
Open Source or a commercial filtering product that we can stick on a
proxy box. We have some of our older customers complaining about some
of the mail coming through as well as some of the web sites easily
accessible from off the Internet. Can someone either direct me to some
URLs, give me some recommendations, or offer some of their own
experiences. Money really isn't an object here. Our customers are
willing to pay.
We'd probably run the proxy either off a Linux box or buy a new Sun
box. If push cam e to shove, even a NT box would do if that was all the
software would run on.
Thanks.
