On mine, the volume was really low and barely audible. If whatever app
you're running seems to be playing the soundbite, try turning up the volume.

Files can be copied from the win partition to the linux partition using cp. The win
partition has to be mounted, of course.

That was a valid rule in the 1970s, where hard drive space was about
half as expensive as RAM and having 1/3 live RAM and 2/3 swap was the
cheapest option.
Now, there aren't any rules any more, get the amount of RAM you can
afford and add as much swap as you need.

if you use a boot disk for 98 you can sys the drive by typing sys c:
you will need a boot disk w\ the command.com file you want to use and the
sys utility available, well its a utility already on your 98 partition.
you get the LI because you killed your linux partition. if you reinstall
liunx after sysing your drive it will work fine again.
Hope that helps,

Traceroute does *not* honour the local routing table.
IMNSO this is a but in traceroute - everytime I say this someone posts

Supposedly it's like UltraHLE (the N64 emulator). It rerenders it or
something (I don't know the details). I can run Zelda at 800x600 (because
I only have 1 Voodoo 2), but if you have a better card, it can go
on up.

800x600 takes way more time to render than 320x240

ps and top both show swapped-out processes in parentheses. You can also
get information about the amount of memory which processes are using.
See the ps and top man pages for details.

you need more colors, probably starting x with default 8 bit color.

I think the perfect has the connotation of an event that happened at a distinct
time in the past, whereas the imperfect has the connotation of a process or
state continuing over a period of time in the past. So for this case, QED is
better than QFD.

Not exactly. It was rather Dutch "attention" & Maori control ->
British "attention" & Maori control -> sequence of really bloody wars ->
British control. IIRC New Zealand was discovered by Abel Tasman in 164?.
He gave the name. Don't forget, there was a Dutch control over Indonesia,
so...

Hello Georg:
I just read a great piece on Linux being used in industry yesterday. The
article covers how the Canadian National Railway Corporation is using Linux
in their Signals and Communications department to monitor the impact of
train wheels on a track, via wayside systems. By measuring the impact of the
train wheels, the remote sensors are able to pass on which wheels are
defective and should be replaced. The company is using Linux, which is also
running an Oracle database, because they want their entire operation to be
web-centric. This article also explains why the company is writing all
programs for their operations in PERL, rather then C, because of it's
flexibility and speed. The article is in Network World, which is a Canadian
publication, and can be found ar http://www.lti.on.ca

Subject: compiler options not passed on
Date: Fri, 16 Apr 1999 17:12:52 +0200
Hello,
A closer look to the problem I posted before
regarding egcs and libiberty comes down to the following.
When I want to compile egcs for my libc5 system on which libc6
is also present I have to do :
export CC='gcc -L/usr/i486-linuxlibc5/lib'
Then I can do a proper configure for a native libc5 egcs.
Before continuing I have to go into egcs-compile-dir/gcc and edit
the Makefile where I have to set the BOOT-CFLAGS to include:
-L/usr/i486-linuxlibc5/lib.
In this way only the proper option is passed on to a bootstrap
compilation.
After almost an hour of compilation the system starts to configure
the libstdc++, libio and libiberty and put stuff in
i586-pc-linux-gnulibc1. Here the first two go fine
but the libiberty does not. Looking at the config.log shows that
CONFIGURE does not find a working compiler. The error message shown is
the one I get when I do not include -L/usr/i486-linuxlibc5/lib
in the compiler option. So this option is not passed on.
1. Why is this option not passed on to all occurences of CFLAGS when
I do configure in the main-dir(=egcs-compile-dir).
2. Why DOES (stressed) configure work during MAKE for libstdc++ and
libio?
3. What should I change to get all things work properly.
Thanks in advance.

Hello,
A closer look to the problem I posted before
regarding egcs and libiberty comes down to the following.
