When trying to configure and install WebMaker I get the following error
message during configuration::
"no acceptable C++ compiler found in $PATH "..
Can anyone tell me what I need to do here?
Is that a compiler that I need to install off the LM 6.0 CD?
Any help is greatly appreciated

Yes. All operating systems rely on their code resident
in memory matching what was generated during its
build and loaded from disk, as well as their own data
structures not spontaneously becoming corrupt. Linux
is no exception.

I have been running RAID 1 for quite awhile. It took a bit of tweaking
when I upgraded to RedHat 6.0 but succeeded. I was using 2.2.5 with
RAID 1 working.

The problem occurs when I try to upgrade the kernel to 2.2.7 and
2.2.10 I can't get RAID to work. It doesn't look like I can get the
kernel to acknowledge the presence of RAID 1. Taking a look at the
Personalities from /proc/mdstat, I get [3 raid1] instead of [raid1].
'raidstart -a' then gives me error messages about /dev/md0 and
/dev/md1.

The configuration of the kernels are identical as I saved the kernel
configuration to a file and reconfigured using 'make xconfig'.

but hoses the system with a color pic. Please respond by e-mail.

I wasn't aware of that functionality of PGP. Is it only 5.0 that
refuses to sign files that contain viri, or does 2.6.x have that
functionality as well?

OK, in case anyone is interested, I managed to get around SYSLINUX's
problems. I created a boot floppy with mkbootdisk on my desktop box
(which is running RH 5.2). I then created a 'rescue' floppy by copying
off the initrd.img file from the normal boot/install floppy and then
dd'ing this image onto a floppy of its own. I booted up the laptop with
the boot floppy and specified 'rescue' and popped in the floppy made
from the initrd.img file from the normal boot/install floppy, and was
thus about to upgrade my laptop to RH 5.2.

I have not heard about anyone else having this problem and since my
laptop is an older model, I am wondering if I should let the people at
RedHat know about this problem.

Although I'm an Amiga supporter, I suspect Linux is more likely to "do"

The biggest drawback with Linux is not having a user oriented external

to do here but the user external port to application control).

Hmmm, If I understand this right, Linux is recompiled for new drivers?
Hmmm, can a port driver to application be done?

1. Use GnuPG please.

2. The signature verifies who made the package only. Then if its a
Virus you publicly humiliate the person...issue the key to everyone you
see telling them this is a BAD key.

3. Install only packages your reasonably sure came from a valid
source....signatures make this easier.

My guess is that the ./ directory (the current directory)
is not on your path. Try prefixing ./ to the command name,
as in (using your example)

gcc example.cc -o run
./run

That will probably work. If it does, you may want to add the
./ directory to your path to avoid having to type it every
time. The command to do this, (in bash anyway) is

export PATH=$PATH:./

you may want to add this to your .bashrc file.

                                        hope this helps.

Hi, I'm using Open Linux ver 2.2 and I'm having a problem getting
executables that I compile to run.
After creating an executable with gcc
for example "gcc example.cc -o run"
I then type in "run" and get the error message
"Command not found"
I've tried different compilers and different names for the source
and the output file but I can't get anything to work.
I've never had this problem before and I'm completly clueless
by the way I don't get any error messges when I compile.
thanks
