I did... but I can't see any change to the partition. Win98 would not boot
at first so I used RESTORRB to replace the root and boot sector files. After
that 98 booted. However, 98 still thinks there is a single 28 gig partition.
fdisk reads the same thing. I just don't think that FIPS wrote any changes.
I did not do anything with autoexec... could these file be interfearing
somhow? If so, how should I disable them?

I have a hp deskjet printer attached to my linux System and I works
great, for both color and
black and white!
I have it set up to print black and with by default. What I want to
have is lp0 for black and white and
lp1 for color. Both would use /dev/lp0. Any hints?

Greeings.
Quite a few months ago, I came across Tuxowulf, and
slight rewrite of Beowulf with Tux and the hero, slaying
the accursed NT, who has ravaged the land.
When I tried my bookmark to reread it, I received a host
not found error. It was located at
http://davix.latesky.net/apoc/booke/tuxowulf.html
All the hits from net searches and Deja point to
this site as well. It seems that davix.latesky.net
no longer exists.
Does anyone have a copy of Tuxowulf? It was a good
read and I'd like to pass it on to a few friends.
Thanks,

Kertzman word against a no name vice-president from Microsoft, nice. There's
nobody to deny allegations. Depending on one's perspective, one might/might
not believe the story.

Let's see.... Buy NT server and the $700.00 Sybase software vs just buy NT
server. Hmmm... Is there anyone out there that still thinks Microsoft should
be split up?

And Apache has nothing to do with driving Web server suppliers out of
business, right? It is only Microsoft which does that. Get real....
And then there's Linux, the "free" OS. Companies burning CDs which sells for
upto $200.00. Interestingly, the "server" version cost 5 times as much as
the desktop version. Some of those companies, like Red Hat, are buying up
smaller companies. Just like Microsoft and any other technology companies
are doing. It is ok as long as the company name isn't Microsoft. Double
standards all the way....

SILICON VALLEY, CA - April 7, 2000 - World-famous technology
commentator Petilon announced today his intent to persevere in his
planned Down With Microsoft World Tour 2000. Petilon plans to travel
across the U.S. in a '73 Cadillac painted with anti-MS slogans. He
intends to convince as many average citizens as possible of the
evilness of Microsoft, complete with multimedia exhibits. One of these
exhibits compares Windows98 with competing, more advanced technology
such as Netscape 6, Swing, the Java Plug-in, java.io.File, linuxconf,
an xterm, and the NC. "All these companies need is a chance to
compete, and they can come up with some really great products.
Really!" Petilon stated.
Petilon associate Dennis Woodruff downplayed the disappointing "beta
test" in Yuba City, CA, in which Petilon's Cadillac was pelted with
rocks by angry schoolchildren and after which the town elders asked
Petilon to "hit the 101 please".

It is quite possible, color ls does it and so does slrn. From examining
the output of ls --color=always dumped to a file and examined with 'less',
it appears to use escape sequences like:
ESC[0m white (default?)
ESC[01;32m green on black
ESC[01;34m blue on black
ESC[01;36m cyan on black
The last digit seems to correspond with colors in 'man terminfo'.
Therefore here is a perl that prints these colors in the console or
gnome terminal:
#!/usr/bin/perl
print <<EOF;
\033[01;30mBlack\033[0m
\033[01;31mRed\033[0m
\033[01;32mGreen\033[0m
\033[01;33mYellow\033[0m
\033[01;34mBlue\033[0m
\033[01;35mMagenta\033[0m
\033[01;36mCyan\033[0m
\033[01;37mWhite\033[0m
EOF
It is up to you to insert such escape sequences in whatever interprets
your text to give you the colors you want.

IP hostname aliases
The hostname would be whatever name you want to find first when Linux does
a gethostbyaddr. Each field is separated by whitespace (spaces or tabs).
Example (note, 2nd line is real hostname with a loopback IP so it works
online or offline).
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
127.0.0.2 efflandt.xnet.com efflandt
10.10.10.1 mainpc.localdomain mainpc ns
10.10.10.2 laptop.localdomain laptop

A little much for a usenet post. Basically, start with a src.rpm of the
correct version to match your patch (oops, it rhymes). Then stick the
patch in appropriate place (..../SOURCES). Then build like any src.rpm.
Relevant portions of my spec file:
Source: ftp://people.redhat.com/johnsonm/procps/procps-%{version}.tar.gz
Patch0: procps-2.0.6-longlong.patch
Patch1: procps-2.0.6-sysmap.patch
Patch2: procps-2.0.6-SMP-CL.patch [This is the SMP patch]
[...]
%prep
%setup
%patch0 -p1 -b .longlong
%patch1 -p1 -b .sysmap
%patch2 -p1 -b .SMP-CL
I always cheat and use someone else's spec file, and then modify as
needed. Saves much time usually. This is redhat's from rawhide a while
back. Probably now part of RH6.2.

There are a billion stories in the Naked City. From the pen of

I like knews, myself. It takes some file editing to set up, but than you
can forget about it ...
By the way, the news server that comes with the new Netscape 6 is horrible -
MUCH worse than the 4.7 version.
If you turn Javascript off, (as you should on Usenet), then you can't access
the dialog that lets you subscribe to groups. I've yet to figure out how
to download the active list of groups - there's no option for that, seemingly,
and if you type a newsgroup name wrong, it'll "subscribe" you to it, and you
won't be able to delete it without going into the text configuration files and
hand editing them. Furthermore, you have to save binary pictures to view them,
as far as I've been able to figure out. It's also clunky, unstable and slow.
Stay away.
I do think it's a good web browser, though; better so far than 4.7.

If you have a hardware problem, as suggested by your report, then no

Take a look at the output of dmesg, or your system logs.

Run "file" over your downloads. You should find that netscape already
uncompressed (not unzipped!) them for you, but didn't change the file
name to match.

Any archive site, any distribution. Isn't 0.88 current?
The docs say:
The entire XForms distribution plus the latest info is accessible via
