The following URL does not specifically list your model, but it does
have links to information on similar Toshiba models from the same period
(i.e. 486, ca. 200Mb HD, some with even less RAM). If you haven't already
done so, take a look at some of these similar models there.

I found this page a tremedous help when I set up my laptop (which is a
couple of years younger, so I can't give you any direct help).

Hope this helps,

XWarpPointer should work. I don't know about OpenGL or Glut
programming, but if you have access to the Display pointer (given by
XOpenDisplay call or some wrapper of it), then just use it as the
first argument for the function. You'll also need to know the window
ids (given by XCreateWindow or XCreateSimpleWindow, or any wrapper of
them) for any windows you want to place the cursor relative to.

If those things aren't available with these interfaces, you'll have to
find another way for doing this.

I have RH 6.1. In the startup output I get:
...
Freeing unused kernel memory: 36k freed
INIT: version 2.78 booting
Unable to load interpreter
NET4: Unix domain sockets 1.0 for Linux NET4.0.
                        Welcome to Red Hat Linux
Press 'I' to enter interactive startup.
...
The line of interest is "Unable to load interpreter."
I had this problem with the 2.77 INIT version, upgrading didn't help.
Obviously, the init program has started, but the rc.sysinit doesn't
start to "Welcome to Red Hat ..."
The problem doesn't appear to be in inittab either.
Does anyone know what's wrong?

Hi
can anybody help me to set the ramdisk size. I am booting from a DiskOnChip and use
their modified lilo to load the kernel from the DOC.
Their modified lilo does not accept
ramdisk=16000
and the kernel boots with a ramdisk size of 4096 and croaks very soon after.

initrd -> unwinds ramimg.gz into /dev/ram1 then /dev/ram1 becomes root filesystem.
All is fine except that the /dev/ram1 is too small.

Thanks

It sounds like you have access to the internet through your current
computer, I would be more inclined to say download the startdisks from
www.freesoftware.com on the slackware distro. That will use the rawwrite
.exe program from the website. follow the instructions on screen and you
should at least get to a mountable command prompt, or even to your
linux machine. Run lilo from there, edit whatever

Nicola,

I don't know why everyone so far is saying that either you _can't_ do
ext2 on CD-ROM, or you don't want to.

I do it all the time for backup and it works great. Read the
CD-Writing-HOWTO and it explains how to do it.

In short:

1. First create a blank image file (in this case, I call it
'bimage.ex2':

    dd if=/dev/zero of=bimage.ex2 bs=1024k count=650

2. Then make the ext2 file system on it

    /sbin/mke2fs -q -F -b 2048 bimage.ex2

3. Mount the file as an ext2 drive (NOTE you need the loopback device
enabled in the kernel) (NOTE I created a /mnt/file directory for this
purpose):

    mount -t ext2 -o loop=/dev/loop1 bimage.ex2 /mnt/file

4. Copy whatever files/directories you want to /mnt/file. If you want to
preserve file attributes, use 'cp -a' (see man cp).

5. Unmount the /mnt/file "drive".

    umount /mnt/file

6. Use cdrecord to copy the bimage.ex2 image file to the CD.

Of course, you can only mount and read the CDs on your Linux system. If
you want portability to other OSes, you need to use the ISO 9660 format.

First, you must determine if it's windows-only printer (I don't recall
if the 5000 is or isn't). If you have the user guide, the big clue is
the section describing printing under DOS. If such printing is not
allowed, or if it requires printing from a DOS window under Windows,
then it's probably a windows-only printer and you are out of luck on
Linux.

If it's not a windows-only printer, then check the manual for printer
emulations. You need to find an older Canon or other emulated printer in
the list of supported printers for Ghostscript that would match it.

Connecting the driver to the card is NOT my problem. The card has a
jumper for IRQ/port address and the driver has no trouble finding the
card. I don't know about this partitular NIC -- my main experience is
with 3c509's. With 3c509 'combo' cards (cards with multiple
connectors), the card has an EEPROM which can be set (with the config
util that 3Com provides) to whichever port you would like to use.
