You can do this if you have an empty (unused, extra) partition in your
HD. Just install Caldera into that empty partition. Otherwise, I havn't
experienced installing two Linux flavors one on top of another. All I've
done is install one version beside another (physically side by side
occupying different partitions on the HD).

Hope this helps.

Have a nice day.

Centuries ago, Nostradamus foresaw a time when Yura would say:

>My question is - what does %f really means?
>And where can I get some more info about this trigers.

Probably this indicates that the application info gets transformed
into the command by replacing %f with the filename.

Thus, if whatever application decoded the application component
generated the file /tmp/mm.thisfile

And you defined "/usr/X11R6/bin/xv %f",

It'll generate the command
   /usr/X11R6/bin/xv /tmp/mm.thisfile

The reason for this to be particularly useful is if there is a need
to submit other options, such as with:
  /usr/bin/X11R6/bin/xv -filename %f
--

if (argc > 1 && strcmp(argv[1], "-advice") == 0) {
  printf("Don't Panic!\n");
  exit(42);
}

See the FHS - /usr/share/terminfo seems to be quite right and fine. It
is not the software's problem if they don't get it right. People pay them
to do they job, so let them deliver.

Setting TERMINFO in /etc/profile is not much of a problem either and IMHO
if the one in charge of the machine has a problem with that he/she/it ought
not to be in charge.

Then there is something wrong with your system resource wise as the
SETI@home thread has a lower priority than normal threads, so it goes
dormant when anything else of higher priority is happening. If your machine
has low memory however, you may be seeing some lag due to swapping.

Read netscape's help on mime types. Alternatively, you could check up
on the governing RFCs.

(a blind deaf and dumb person would guess that %f stood for filename -

Hi,
I would like to have a detailed understanding of how modules are
Loaded
in Linux. When a distribution is compiled, you get lots of modules. And
there
is a file called modules.dep and a program depmod. and it seems all the
modules reside in /lib/modules. How do they work?
Are the modules all loaded at once. What determines what and which
modules
are loaded? It is said if one needs to load a specific module
automatically,one
should put it in the rc.local file. What about all the other modules
that
the system needs to run? What loads them? If I have a piece of hardware,

say a cdrom and I change it for another type and brand, does the system
know to use another driver? Or, do all the cdrom drivers check the
cdrom
to see which one should be loaded? Etc..

Thanks

Hi,
I created a "shortcut" for Netscape on my KDE desktop and I had to
choose
an icon from a window full of icons. There was no Netscape icon there
so I chose one that I thought would suit it. How do I get the "real"

how are they associated with programs? Is there a graphics program
where I can create my own icons?

Thanks

I bet it's the swapping. Consider purchasing more RAM, using a
different browser, or having to kill and restart netscape on regular
intervals (i.e. before the swapping starts).

On my system (PII-300/256M), a typical netscape 4.73 process that's
been running for about two hours is eating up some 30Megs of memory.
Add to that about 20-40Megs that X takes up (depending on your
display's settings and the video driver you use), the memory that
WindowMaker utilizes (shouldn't be much, but it surely exceeds 2Megs),
and you'll soon find out that a swap file of 64MB is the very bottom
if you intend on running some other programs besides just these.

Cheers,

Icons are stored in /usr/share/icons (or $KDEDIR/share/icons in
general) on a system-wide basis and ~/.kde/share/icons for each
user. You associate an icon to a program by right clicking the
properties and under the execute tab, selecting the appropriate icon.

To create your own icons, use the KDE icon editor or somthing more
general like Gimp. You will need to save it in .xpm format.
