They go into the printer spool directory. There should be a directory named
/var/spool/lpd/, which is where the print spools are. These directories
are set up by printtool. Run printtool (as root) and select 'add',
select local printer, select the name of print queue and the name of the
spool directory. Then click on the Select button next to the Input
Filter and then Epson Stylus Color (UP), then scroll down to stc600p
(720x720) or stc600ih (1440x720). Save things out and restart lpd.
You should be all set.

I am trying to connect as a user (using my username). I ran ssh

Once again, permission denied, with no real help as to why. It tells
me it is doing password authentication and then doesn't like the
REAL, VALID password I enter.
On another note, trying to use ssh-add fails telling me it cannot
connect to my agent. How does one run ssh-agent so as to be able
to use ssh-add? Simply running ssh-agent does nothing.
I have been reading thru one howto but it is assuming previous
knowledge on the hows and whys of ssh because it gives no
specific instructions on any of this stuff.

I know that a least 1/3 of my website hits are from LINUX systems and that it

LINUX has no provisions even for video conferencing and web cam support so has

Any SCSI drive will work as long as your SCSI controller is supported. Not
sure about IDE, but just look around for a Linux driver before you buy.
But there are lots of options.

I had the same problems as you. Manually reinstalling Grub did
not work. What you have to do is run the install script :
sh /boot/grub/install.sh (I think this is it, I'm not on my Linux box
at the moment)
This will reinstall Grub as your default bootmanager.

This really worries me. It makes me wonder if RedHat is pulling a Bill Gates
like planned obsolescence to force us all to upgrade to RH 7. If we don't, we
won't be able to use any of the new packages, because they'll be in RPM 4 format
It should be possible for some kind person who has RH 7 to package RPM 4
with RPM 3, so we can install it. I have a feeling it won't work even then,
because it will require the very latest glibc - available in RH 7.
Pretty clever, huh? I hope I'm wrong. For the meantime we can all humbly ask
the developers among us to pretty please make their packages with RPM 3.x

I use a Seagate TapeStor 8000 SCSI with arkeia backup software and it
works GREAT!!! It uses a 4GB/8GB tape depending on compression.
There is a free version of arkeia available for personal use.

I had the same trouble you are having. Instead of adding the "alias"
line to /etc/conf.modules, a post advised adding it to
/etc/lilo.conf, also the post advised adding another line to
lilo.conf, something like "options parport_pc io=0x378 irq=7". The
0x378 and irq 7 are what the bios has set for my parallel port.
I am now running RH6.2, and unfortunatly don't have a copy of what
my RH6.1 lilo.conf looked like. If I remember correctly I added
these two lines in /etc/lilo.conf:
alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc
options parport_pc io=0x378 irq=7
Then I ran /sbin/lilo, but still could not print. Earlier, I had
tried various entries in printtool, and if i remember right, i had
the printer name as lp0, and the printer device as /dev/lp0. I
deleted the printer from printtool, and removed the directory lp0
from /var/spool/lpd. Then I added the printer with printtool:
Names (name1|name2|...) lp
Spool Directory /var/spool/lpd/lp
File Limit in Kb (0=no limit) 0
Printer Device /dev/lp0
Input Filter HP Deskjet 500c/550c/6xxcSerie
If I remember, I could then print from the parallel port.

The answer is probably that you don't have shadow password support in your
current OpenSSH install. Reinstall, using the following commands:
./configure --with-md5-passwords
make
make install
The new OpenSSH install should utilize your old install's keys et al. After
you do this, you shouldn't have any problems logging in
Hope this helps...

This driver isn't part of a standard 2.2.17 kernel but it will get into

1. Given: new, unrecorded nor blanked, Verbatim CD-RW
2. Write stuff to the Verbatim CD-RW. Readable by other computers.
3. Decide what you wrote is junk. Do "cdrecord blank=all ..." on the media.
4. Write new stuff to the Verbatim CD-RW.
5. New stuff isn't readable by other computers.
I've written ISO9660 data to a "virgin" Verbatim CD-RW disk ("Verbatim
DataLifePlus CD-RW 650MB) and been able to read said files from other
CD-ROM drives.
In fact, one can "see" the data on the CD-RW by looking for refraction
differences on the writable surface of the disk.
After using "cdrecord" to "blank=all" the media and re-writing the files,
those "other" CD-ROM drives no longer see data.
Once "blank=all" has been done, and after said re-writing, the refraction
difference cannot be visually detected. "Other" CD-ROM drives cannot see
the data, but, interestingly, the originating CD-RW drive *can* see the
data.
Does anyone have any idea what's happening here? Is the CD-RW drive
improperly "blanking" the CD-RW media?
