Could this be a hardware problem?

(P.S. The most recent 2.4.1-pre* kernels have reiserfs already in place.)

The feds don't get any of that money. So calling them greedy doesn't
seem quite appropriate. That extra money goes to Metallica or Bryan

Hello,
what says:
cat /etc/sendmail.cf | grep .cw
Should give you something like:
Fw/etc/mail/sendmail.cw
If it's not there you have to create a new sendmail.cf, using m4 macro
with FEATURE(`use_cw_file') enabled to get it working,
then you can create/use sendmail.cw.
More info:
www.sendmail.org
comp.mail.sendmail
If you're serious about sendmail I would recommend buying/reading
a good book about sendmail, like "Help for UNIX System Administrators" sendmail
from O'Reilly.
It's a huge book (~1000 pages) that gives some info, as sendmail is a really
great but complicated package,
don't expect to understand how sendmail works in a short time...
But if you set it up right, you have no more trouble, it just works...:-)
Good luck

I'd strongly recommend mandrake 7.2, as it has built in support for the
HPT370 chipset. Otherwise, you will need to to some research. You should
read the HPT 366 howto at http://www.csie.ntu.edu.tw/~b6506063/hpt366/.
Most of the info there relates to the HPT370 as well.

Yes, you have to add the two additional HPT channels via kernel parameters.
The I/O-address(es) may vary. Read the HPT366 mini-HOWTO at:

Hello,
IMHO, you can only force the creation mode of a file:
man umask
If you want to have always the same user who owns the file, which I don't
understand why you want this,
as you could set an umask like 022 to make it accessable for the group.
You could write a small script that searches with find (-type d) for
directorys and changes them with
chown to your needs, this script has to be run as root of course, from
crontab...
Good luck

BTW is is better not to refer to Debian distributions by their code names.

The problem was I compiled the IDE driver as a module. And it
specifically says that if your root filesystem is on an IDE drive, do
not compile it as a module.
I spent hours reading every single thing in the xconfig options... but
I guess after hours some things just start to blend and don't make
sense.
It works now.

It seems like NFS needs a new handle to the backup (secondary) server.
Have you tried unmounting (umount) from the webserver, then remounting
via NFS?

Date: Fri, 19 Jan 2001 15:03:10 GMT
Linux gurus,
I am trying to have my linux box run imapd in "standalone" mode, rather
than using xinetd to spawn it. I can't find any information on this
anywhere. I've tried adding the line /usr/sbin/imapd in rc.local, and
it doesn't work. I figured it wouldn't, because I know there's got to
be more to it than that. Can somebody either point me in the right
direction or shed some light on this please?

Can you suggest me at least where to find some docs?

Here's the URL of an online manual for RedHat 6.2, section F is the
kickstart documentation. I am sure there is an equivalent doc for
RedHat 7.0.
http://www.redhat.com/support/manuals/RHL-6.2-Manual/ref-guide/
I highly recommend kickstart. It is a great way of creating identical
or reproducible system configurations, especially when the hardware
varies.
I also recommend building the kickstart configuration file from
scratch -- it's not that hard.
There are some undocumented features and workarounds so post something
if you get stuck.

If that's the same as Epson Stylus Color 670:
from within an app., I print to a postscript file, then use ghostscript:
gs @stc_h.upp -sOutputFile=\|lpr TheFile.ps
(or use @stc.upp for 360 resolution)
Not the most beautiful output but,
Of course you can just lpr a straight text file.
The SC670 is similar to the SC440 [I'm using SC440 driver in WinOS/2]

Subject: Xerox DocuPrint P8
Date: Fri, 19 Jan 2001 10:47:48 -0500
Hi, hope someone can help with configuring a "Xerox DocuPrint P8" to
work with 7.0 which was a 6.1 upgrade. I'll first submit relevant info
and then submit what problem I'm encountering.
1. The OS was an upgrade form 6.1 to 7.0.
2. I added "alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc" to "/etc/modules.conf"
3. In Gnome's Printer Tool I configured the input filter with both "text
only" and "postscript printers" to no avail.
4. I restarted "lpd" each time I changed the configuration in Printer
Tool.
5. "/var/log/messages" shows "localhost kernel: parport0: Unspecified,
Xerox Docuprint P8"
6. I finally selected the "text only" input filter as there is no entry
for the P8.
The problem is that when I try to print a test page in Printer Tool, I
get a dialog box saying the test page is being printed, but nothing
happens. All physical connections are ok, I using this printer
successfully in WinMe. I get no mail upon boot indicating any printer
problem or the inability to print.
Any help would be appreciated.

john
