What kind of message are you getting when you try to do what you want to do?
One possibility is that the executable you want is not in your path. Try
prefixing the command with /sbin or /usr/sbin.

I think I see what you mean. You want one directory to be able to span
multiple disk devices, do you?
The easiest way I can think of is to use software RAID. Check out the
latest software RAID howto. It's got all the relevant information.
Even has a section to root/boot systems on software RAID devices.

I'm running RH 6.1 on a K6-2, tied into a Windows network. Recently,
the sysadmins replaced the network printer with a very similar printer.
Since then, anything I send to print prints out two copies. Not two
full sets in sequence, but 2 copies of page 1, then 2 copies of page 2,
then 2 copies of page 3 etc. This happens when I print from Netscape,
StarOffice, anything but WordPerfect (where things print correctly, only
one copy).
The old printer was an HP 4 Plus, and I used the HP 4/5/6 driver through
printtool. The new printer is also an HP 4 Plus, and I'm still using
the HP 4/5/6 driver. Jobs get sent via SAMBA through the print server,
which is an NT box.
Any ideas? This is driving me nuts, and wasting huge amounts of paper.
Thanks,
Lori

Hi all,
Suppose I have a C file with a header include statement #include "foo.h".
Does anyone know what path is searched to find this header file for Red
Hat 6.2 and Calder eDesktop 2.4? How do I change this path in my .bashrc?
Thanks,

Lori,
Did you check the default document settings for the printer on the NT
box? It's possible that if the copies is set to 2 there, you might see
what you ar eseeing. Most of the Windows clients and perhaps Wordperfect
under Linux is overriding the default.
Something to check anyway....

Not 'prove'. 'Confirm'. Scientific theories are never proven. They are
just confirmed to increasing levels of confidence.

Yes, it is possible to believe a event happened in the past...even
if the event can't be repeated.
That's why Materialism is hopelessly flawed. We all know that JFK
was shot, but can't repeat the experiment. How do we go about
proving a historical event.
One way is through historical reasoning... If several independent
historical sources document something then there is a higher
probability that it actually happened.
Related to this is legal reasoning. The old motive, means and oportunity.
Your example above is interesting because of 2 things.
First, in all probability, Paul and the other apostiles existed.
Paul survived boiling in oil. He could have recanted his beliefs
and saved himself from the oil. The other apostiles all died for
their faith.
Now here is the motive part. If Paul and the other apostiles did
not really believe that Christ was the Son of God, what motivation
would not let them recant?
Not proof, just evidence that something was going on 2000 years ago.

You might try Ctrl-z, which may break you out of any funky program you may
have wound up in. I don't know Turbo Linux at all, but bash is a shell, and
should not limit you (not strictly true, but a good approximation).

I'd be surprised if you could find what you're looking for. All
Linux/Windows comparisons that I've seen are either subjective rants, or
(necessarily) very limited in scope. The only way, IMHO, to understand, and
appreciate, the differences between Linux and Windows is to use them both a
lot. I do, and I really like them both (Debian Linux 2.2 and Windows 2000
Pro). Each has major strengths and major weaknesses, which vary, of course,
depending on how you use them, what you're using them for, level of
technical expertise, etc.

Fuck off, Socialist.
democracy: A government of the masses. Authority derived through
mass meeting or any form of 'direct' expression.
Results in mobocracy. Attitude toward property is communistic-negating
property rights. Attitude toward law is that the will of the majority
shall egulate, whether it be based upon deliberation or governed
by passion, prejudice, and impulse, without retraint or consequences.
Results in demagoguery, license, agitation, discontent, anarchy.

Remember..by "democratic" theory, M$ would be the only choice,
because that's what the mob of simpletons uses.

Hello
I am running slackware 7.1, kernel 2.4.1 and I installed the latest
version of OpenSSH 2.3.0. The install seemed to go ok, considering
that somewhere I read that there was a problem with password
authentication on slackware and the suggested patch was to set up the
config in the following fashion
LIBS=-lcrypt ./configure , then make, make install, etc
Now im trying to ssh into my linux box from my windows box (using
securecrt -- ssh1 protocol) and my password authentication keeps
failing. I get the following message in /var/log/messages on mu linux
box :
sshd[session id] bad-auth-msg-4 for illegal user <my user name>
I'm sure I'm missing something really simple. Any suggestions would be
appreciated.
