Midnight Commander (mc) will do it.

Here is my original post:
Occasionally, when using netscape 4.7x on a slackware7.0 (xfree 3.6xx)
system and kde2.?? my cpu (celeron 400) usage goes up to nearly 100% and
stays there and the only way to recover is to kill netscape. This has
happened any number of times in navigator when visiting web sites and
once in a while in communicator using the local road runner news server.
Any ideas about this?
Thanks, JWC
The resulting thread went off into the bushes. What I am trying to find
out is:
is there anything I can do to prevent this happening in the future?
Thanks again.

There exists a daemon called "rhnsd" which is described as:
This is a daemon which handles the task of connecting periodically to
the Red Hat Network servers to check for updates, notifications and
perform system monitoring tasks according to the service level that
this server is subscribed for
You can turn this off by su'ing to root then typing:
/etc/rc.d/init.d/rhnsd stop
If you want to turn it off so that it doesn't start on bootup,
su to root and type:
/usr/sbin/ntsysv
Uncheck "rhnsd". You can also press F1 on each item listed so you can
currently understand what deamons are starting up when you boot your
machine. Turn off stuff you don't want.
THe 'ntssyv' program will turn daemons on/off for the current run
level. If you change run levels you'll have to do it for that run
level.
If you want to turn daemons on/off for all run levels use the utility:
/sbin/chkconfig
If this has been helpful to you please let me know.

It is certainly possible to install some version of print depending
on which version of gimp you have. But it can require some
significant fussing. Now that the stable 1.2 version is available,
and even in rpm versions, it would seem sensible to go with that.

We've managed to install RedHat 7.0 on two Dell computers which
came with Windows ME. We used Fips to resize the windows partition
and then installed Linux. The only problem we encountered was
that lilo didn't boot from the disk because /etc/lilo.conf had
to be rewritten to replace the linear option by the lba32 option.
(And of course we had to rerun lilo.) After that dual booting
worked fine.

How do I tell which file system my linux machine uses? I have RH7.0
kernel 2.2.16-22.
I downloaded the undelete tarball from the site you mentioned above
but the install script says:
cp: cannot stat `e2fsck': No such file or directory

It's part of the Red Hat Network. Check it out before you disable it to
determine if you really want to or not.

Subject: troubles installing gdbm

I get the following error when I try to do make install for gdbm.
/bin/install -c -m 644 -o bin -g bin gdbm.h /usr/local/include/gdbm.h
/bin/install: invalid user `bin'
make: *** [install] Error 1
This is after the libraries have been installed.
Any clues anyone?
Thanks,
Robert

Uhmm... a cat /etc/fstab could give an indication of the filesystems
used.
format of the file is something like :
device mountpoint fstype option
the e2fsck file on my system (SuSE) is located in /sbin and can only
used by root. Perhaps that will explain the errmsg.
I'd like to mention that I don't have any experiance with the undelete
package. I see no use for such a tool for the same reasons that Herb
Stein mentions.
