You will waste less time all round if you simply do it. mcopy mounts
the drive for you and does the copy to it, then unmounts it. Therefore you
cannot use it when the drive is mounted. cp, on the other hand,
requires the drive to be mounted. Does this takes such brainpower?

See the manpage.

Try and understand that millions of people have no difficulty, and that
therefore the problem is at your end. So you have to fix it your end.
the mcommands work just as in msdos. They just have an m in front of
their names.

I am trying to get software RAID0 (no level will work) started under kernel 2.2.18.
Every time I have done this before, it has been a snap, this time it's being a pain.
When I try to do a mkraid /dev/md0, I get the following error:
mkraid: aborted, see the syslog and /proc/mdstat for potential clues
Of course, neither of these logs say anything about the error.
Can someone help??
Thanks!

I've found that X-CD-Roast's verify option sometimes reports differences
because of differences in the number of bytes read from the end of the
disc or image. For instance, it may pad a track, resulting in a burned
CD-R with some extra (but unimportant) bytes at the end. If your verify
went fine until 99% done and only then reported a problem, you're
probably fine. If it reported an error earlier than that, then you may
have a coaster. You could also try doing a file-by-file verify to be
sure it's OK, assuming the data's in a filesystem that Linux can read,
or assuming you can do such a thing on whatever the target OS is.

Well, you will have to strace the mkraid. It should be obvious.
Last time I had this kind of problem it was due to
1) malformed raidtab ("raid1" instead of "1")
2) devfs-ization
3) wrong tools .. 0.9 instead of 0.4 and vice versa, leading to wrong
ioctls
4) wrong raid patches, wrong kernel, etc. etc. etc.

Nothing there. It and .profile basically point to another file in which I
in desperation put the bla=bla export bla thing.
Here's something. I just noticed that the environment varible for kde is
correct in my root bash environment. Set shows the required value but for
me as a user it is still stuck. This user (me) also does not save it's
command line history. Does that give you a clue?

You just need to create a new key:
/usr/sbin/ssleay genrsa -des3 -rand /dev/urandom 1024 > httpsd.key
And fill in the new info.
Then generate a new 'test' cert:
/usr/sbin/ssleay req -new -x509 -days 365 -key httpsd.key > httpsd.crt
Again fill in the new info.
(This one is good for a year.)
Basicly, you cannot 'change' a certificate, you need to make a new one.
And I believe that the name, etc. is embeded in both the key and the
certificate (but I am not sure). It is easy enough to generate a new
set. At least this is my understanding from Red Hat Secure Web Server
2.0, which is Apache with a mod_ssl, much like you have.
Make sure you do this in the directory where mod_ssl/openssl expects to
find httpsd.key and httpsd.crt. Then you need to restart httpsd
('/etc/rc.d/init.d/httpsd restart' on a typical SysV type system, such
as RedHat Linux). Be sure to check your error log(s) to make sure
things started up ok.

are you sure you are using the right kernel module for the card? why on
earth do you need so many ! do you have enough free resources for the
machine to allocate to this many cards (i.e irq's)? Try disabling one of
your other nic's (ifdown eth1 for example) then bring up your 4th one (ifup
eth4) this will tell you if it's an irq conflict hopefully.... 6 ethernet
cards...sheesh

You don't tell us what step 7 is.
But off the top of my head I'd say it's something to do with
a write protected boot sector on the HD or something like that.
I hope you have all of your other partitions backed up properly,
I don't care what anyone says, there's a strong lightlyhood that the
whole drive will be trashed when installing a second or third OS on
there.
My advice would be to try Linux on a small drive first and see if you
like it before going to all the trouble involved with dual booting with
other OSs.

As someone else mentioned it's /usr/sbin/sendmail over here. And if
your job is running as an ordinary user they may not be able to run

Do some small experiments with crontab like getting a cron job to
copy a small text file from somewhere safe to somewhere safe, do
that as root, then do it as a normal user etc untill you track
the problem down.
Hope some of that helps.

Sorry, I accidently asumed you would have your certs ready, as I described the
very last part,
check this Link (Rolling Your Own Certificates - Should be what you need, as you
don't
wont to recompile apache)
It is not for your version but I can't remember this procedure would have changed
this much.

Subject: limit RSS

Hi!
Is there a way to limit a process' "resident set size" (RSS)? This
would be useful to prevent a process from consuming all available main
memory if it is known to require more virtual memory than is physically
available. I tried the builtin tcsh command "limit -h memoryuse" and the
system call "setrlimit(RLIMIT_RSS, &rlim);" in the program. Both didn't
work at all: the process still grows in main memory and allocates every
byte it can get. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Markus
