Mike

There is a neat lil script called apsfilter (search for it at
freshmeat.net) which supports a LOT of printers, sets up the
/etc/printcap file, etc. I think that this script is so good that it
is being bundled with some distributions, Slackware which I use being
one of them

Good luck

Hallo.

Wie mache ich ein einfaches Backup eines Verzeichnisses, um es danach per
FTp herunterladen zu knnen?
Es sollte aber so gut wie mglich komprimiert sein.

Betriebssystem: Rh6.2

I've got such a beast, a Panasonic LC50S, actually and out of the box

There's a way to do this with sed, but I'm a bit rusty. With awk ranges,
you could have

 awk '/^ERROR/,!/^ERROR/ ; /^Display/,!/^Display/' $1

which will print the range from the first line which starts with ERROR
to the first line which doesn't start with error (generally the next
line), and the same for lines starting with display. It doesn't
help for the situation where the error message spreads over several
lines.

What are your bandwith usage numbers? Have you looked into any of the
web-based online hosting services? Those offer everything you would need
for your site and are as low as $100 - $200 per year. Also what is the cost
of your current webhosting, so we can get an idea of what is needed?

Hello!

My subject says it all:
How to add one's own bookmarks??
I can't find anything which would allow for doing that in realplayer for
linux.

While Realplayer under windows had that since the beginning (at least
since the very early versions I knew), there is still nothing like that
under linux. What version is it now? version 8 or so, I just wonder...

Well, I know, one can write scripts to launch realplayer with some
specific URL, but still I would find it much more comfortable to just be
able to select my bookmarks from a menu *inside the running realplayer
and to add my own as well.

Any ideas? How do you manage your realplaye bookmarks?

Subject: after update, config tools and gnome don't work well...
Date: 31 Mar 2001 21:17:47 GMT

I update my mandrake 7.2 and gnome recently and now I encounter some
problems....
After I update the packages I have found and downoaded. I found that most
of the Mandrake configuration tools can't run. I can run only drakfont and
harddrak. Others would return one of/ both of the following error
messages: (for example)
[root@chen alexfool]#DrakConf

[root@chen alexfool]#
[root@chen alexfool]#MandrakeUpdate

undefined symbol: fdio

what should i do?

Also I upgraded to XFree86 4.0.3. as far as i know, in LM7.2 both 3.3.6 and
4.0.1 are coexist. How about now? How can I know which XFree86 is running?
I was told the 4.0.3 can render true type fonts without xfs. If I want to
use the fonts without xfs, what should I do? Is it so simple that replace
the FontPath "unix/:-1" with the fontpaths? remove the line FontPath
"unix/:-1" = not use xfs?

last question might not be about LM but gnome. after upgrading, some of the
gnome application returns error message such as:
[alexfool@chen .pan]$ pan
pan-Message: Pan 0.9.6 Started
pan-Message: Article cache contains 0.0 megs in 0 files

aborting...

yes, i use Chinese in my LM but it works very well before the update. and
now it seems that the fontset and charset could not be loaded correctly,
not even the ISO8859-1. Does anyone has any ideas?

/etc/issue and /etc/issue.net are printed before login
/etc/motd is printed afterwards

Note that these files may already be created from a script as part of your
boot process, so changing them may not have the expected effect.

I noticed the recent glibc and gcc upgrades went pretty well all considered.
Overall, as a perennial newbie at debian, the things I am impressed with now
with unstable are that X4.0.2 upgrades are getting good, glibc is much
better. I'll reserve judgement on perl until I see one :) I must have
selective memory loss from my earlier adventures.

I have done the lilo upgrade to 21.7 I believe. I don't boot the systems
too often so I don't recall what version is running here. My laptop gets
booted a lot more often and it seems to be at 2.17.

I also have moved to testing from stable and I was overall satisfied. But
this is fun now! As Mr. Hasler points out, I would not take my servers up
there; but on the desktop with a system I can rebuild quite quickly thanks
to things like rsync, unstable is pretty darned cool. All I can say about
unstable is: "whee! bring it on!" :-)

Hello Chan,

since from what I read, you mucked up the system dreadfully
and don't really know on yourself what you've actually done, I would
really suggest starting from scratch, backup your data before.
