Why don't you just use symbolic links?
ln -s /var/spool /usr/local/news/spool or smth. like that.

You shoulf build the drm as a module unless you have a good reason not to.
This will allow you to use the module out of DRI cvs should it become
necessary.B

hello,
our box had rh7.0 on it. my buddy used dos diskettes to book the computer
and format the drive. Linux will not boot up now. we tried booting with both
Linux and dos boot\installation disks. our goal is to remove Linux and do a
fresh install.
the cd drive kicks the cd out all the time. it continuously says that Linux
is not found on the cd and ejects the cd.
thank you,
Kenny.

You may want to have a look at mplayer, a very nice movie player which
handles mpeg (via mpeg2dec) and avi (via Windows DLLs) files, and
does resize. Maybe the code could help you out with your application.

I've tried to find information on the Web, but couldn't
find any detailed information. Maybe someone here has
an idea...
How good is the support for chinese and japanese
(especially EUC encoding) in RedHat 6.2 and 7.1?
Do the input method servers work so one can enter
chinese or japanese characters through a standard
US keyboard?
Does someone here have experience with setting
this up and maybe even using it with SUN's JAVA
development kit?

Boot on a windows system disk, use fdisk to remove/format partitions and do
"fdisk /mbr" to remove lilo.

nice catch-22....
1. Create/copy a floppy disk to a floppy disk image, call this image
dosdisk.img (I can email you one if you like)
2. mount the image
mkdir -p /mnt/floppy
mount dosdisk.imsg /mnt/floppy -o loop -t msdos
3. copy your utilities to /mnt/floppy
(I hope that everything fits onto a floppy; otherwise we need 'bag of tricks
part 2')
4. umount the image
umount /mnt/floppy
5. create a CD-ROM with the dosdisk.img as the boot image:
mkdir -p junk
cp dosdisk.img junk
mkisofs -b dosdisk.imsg -c boot.catalog junk -o junk.iso
cdrecord -v -data -eject junk.iso

I just took that path (upgrading from 6.2 to 7.1), and so far, only
difference is a slightly faster computer (or is it just the graphics??).
SCSI emulation works pretty much the same, even if I've never had any
problems playing audio CDs. (But U gotta use the /dev/scd0 instead of
/dev/cdrom)

A big thanks goes out to that guy Colin who helped me out last time.
Also a thanks to Dean Thompson, good try...
but this time, I hope you read the message before replying.
(Just kidding man.... but seriously...)
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<*>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Okay this is where I stand... Debian Potato... (2.2.18)
I am currently just testing using a crossover cable and one WIN98SE machine.
I now can connect to my Win98SE machine if I use a static IP.
But I want to be able to force all of these settings with the exception of
HOST Name
(eg. WIN98) through DHCP requests from other machines within the home
network.
I also want to be able to use Samba and have windows shares on my Linux box.
My Windows 98 Machine cannot currently get on the internet through the Linux
box.
(Open up Mozilla and get a web page or get email or use ICQ or IRC or
Telnet)
I can ping... and resolve the name to an address, but it times out on all
ping requests (except ping 192.168.1.1)
On the Windows machine, I can only get ping, FTP, Telnet and WWW from the
machine 192.168.1.1
On the Linux machine I can do everything... surf the net, irc, and telnet. I
can make hits to both the internet
as well as my home network.
I am getting very frustrated. I know I am very close... but yet... so very
far away.
If I am missing anything... which I hope I am not... just tell me and I will
post it right away.

In the same vein, if I remove the title bar, how can I access the drop
