I'm having a problem in RH 5.2 with tar. If I try to open a file I download
from the net the shell just sits there. It seems like nothing is happening.
I can gunzip the file, but as far using tar, forget it. The system just
sits there. The PC seems to recognize the tar command because I can type
"tar -help" and get the help for using the tar command. I'm definitely a
newbie at all this so I'm probably missing something rather obvious.
I don't think it's working because when I look at the process it's using
absolutely no CPU.
I don't think it's the file because I can open it on a slackware PC at work.
If someone can give me any guidance I'd really appreciate it.
