LOL... They do. And me being a tech, I know... Think of the little things
first =).

Well, check to see if 4.5 for Linux is out ... if it is, then you'll want
to d/l it, it's cool stuff. But, not sure if it's out yet. Or, better
yet, go get the Mozilla browser (5.0 beta, basically). It's got some
sweet features, though if you have a slow machine it will take a long time
to compile. It's beta software, so it's not gaurenteed at all.

Fetchmail + PINE. Or you could use ELM, Mutt, or a number of email
programs instead of PINE. But PINE 4.10 supports "roles..." saying if a
message is to "@geocities.com" then you will be sending the email as
"@geocities.com" (if you set that up), and then the rest of your email
sent to you it would use your personal address for.

ncftp. Comes with darn near ever Linux distro I've ever heard of. To
resume, you'll type get -C filename (notice a CAPITAL C).

All of what I've mentioned are the textmode programs that will supplant
your requirements.  I'm a geek, sorry, and I don't use X. =)  So I'm
learning Linux console as compared to the "graphical, hide-everything"
method :).

No problem. Everything I told you to use is textmode... no GTK+. I
believe they all use libc5, AFAIK.
