Well the current version of Netscape Communicator is 4.51 which
seems to me to be a pretty stable piece of software. I had an earlier
version that gave me a few problems but I can't remember what that version
was though. As for "great changes", it's been so long since I've ran
Communicator that was as old as 4.07 I've lost track of what's new in the
latest version. If it was me I'd get the latest... but then again, I'm
the type of guy who just _has_ to have the latest and greatest :P

I use fetchmail (current version 4.7.9) and I'm pretty sure you
can set it up to poll different mail accounts. You can even set it to run
as a daemon and poll for mail every x minutes. I run my fetchmail this
way from my dial-up script so every time I log into the 'net I get my mail
automatically without me having to worry about it. I use Pine to
read/compose, and sendmail for sending mail.
