Please try the following command to unpack(untar ) your program file.

        tar xvf <filename.tar>

It will unpack your files in the current directory.

Subject: Unpacking a tar.gz file, Netscape 46.1 to be exact

How do I go about unpacking this program? I go into terminal . . . and
then what do I do?

It's a tar file. What is the unpack command for it?

If my tar program isn't up to date, where do I go to get an update? The
Red Hat website? And can the tar program I have now unpack the new one
so that I can unpack the new version of Netscape I just downloaded?

Thanks for any pointers

Richard
