check your smb.conf. see to it that the user/username you're logging in as
is among the names listed in "valid user = ", or if you would prefer
to eliminate passwd validation, i suppose you could enable guest access,
and discard smb/nmb packets originating from outside:

ipchains -Ainput -j DENY -s ! <private network> -d <samba server> 139
-i <network interface> -p tcp -l
