This is because win NT and win 98 encrypt passwords by default and this
prevent them to connect to samba on unix.
Two solutions:
either tell winblows to stop encrypting passwords (modify a key in the
register)
or tell samba to encrypt passwords.

Sorry to jump in at this point, but how are people using Samba with
98? I've
got it up fine with 95 but I can't run it with 98... It always asks for a
password... I've set the security to UNIX and I try to use the users
password, but it just chokes... Any ideas?

TIA
