This is because win NT and win 98 encrypt passwords by default and this prevent them to connect to samba on unix. Two solutions: either tell winblows to stop encrypting passwords (modify a key in the register) or tell samba to encrypt passwords. -----Message d'origine----- De: Wayne Pascoe [SMTP:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Date: lundi 28 septembre 1998 20:56 : EDLJSAN; linux-newbie Objet: Re: Samba Sorry to jump in at this point, but how are people using Samba with 98? I've got it up fine with 95 but I can't run it with 98... It always asks for a password... I've set the security to UNIX and I try to use the users password, but it just chokes... Any ideas?
